The error messages from the compilers are very different, and due to type inference often hard to understand. If you've never enountered Haskell before, I find The Evolution of a Haskell Programmer an amusing and informative read. Correct handling of concurrently accessed external resources is a demanding problem in programming. Here is one of my work which deals with the Well Formed Formulas. Continuing on my previous blog entry (Haskell for the Working Programmer), it occurs to me that there needs to be a set of idioms to define a Haskell for System Programming. It's a language where functions can't have side-effects, where variables don't vary, and where infinitely long lists are a topic suitable for chapter 2. It's interesting to learn a functional programming language. Peaker: Python's dynamic nature adds slowness and unsafety, but doesn't actually make things more expressive; sj4nz: Programming in weakly-typed languages forever after will feel like working with punch cards. The standard approaches rely on database transactions or concurrency mechanisms like locks. I've been proceeding on two fronts – statically typed functional programming languages and the venerated Lisp family. Haskell has two popular graphical toolkits, Gtk2Hs and wxHaskell. 3) Hiring Manager C says that he likes his programmers to have learnt Haskell even though they don't use Haskell in the firm. If you've never seen Haskell before, you're in for a real treat. Haskell The Hope Of The Statically Typed Family. Reading a Haskell program is a lot easier than writing one.
